Doctor by the Universidad del País Vasco - Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea with the thesis Environmental and economic impacts of sea-level rise on the Basque Coast 2016. Supervised by Dr. Ibon Galarraga, Dr. Alejandro Cearreta Bilbao.

My work addresses climate change adaptation from a multidisciplinary perspective and focuses on public policies and mechanisms for managing climate risks. I have a background in natural sciences and have worked in the private and public sectors for several years before entering academia. I developed my PhD combining methodologies from natural sciences and economics. Since then most of my research has been in the field of social sciences, bringing together approaches from disciplines such as economics, geography and governance. I worked for more than 11 years at BC3, Basque Centre for Climate Change, where I did my PhD on the environmental and economic impacts of sea level rise on the Basque coast (2016). From 2017 to 2019 I was a visiting researcher at the Grantham Research Institute (London School of Economics). As a researcher at BC3, I specialised in studying climate change impacts from a socio-economic perspective and have participated in several international research projects (e.g. COACCH, Econadapt). I was also contributing author of the IPCC AR6 WGII report. Currently, I am a lecturer in the Department of Applied Economics at UPV/EHU and an Associate Researcher at BC3.
