Doctor by the Universidad del País Vasco - Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea with the thesis Environmental and economic impacts of sea-level rise on the Basque Coast 2016. Supervised by Dr. Ibon Galarraga, Dr. Alejandro Cearreta Bilbao.

I study climate change adaptation from a socio-economic perspective, with a focus on public policies and mechanisms for managing climate risk. With a background in geological sciences, I have worked in both the private and public sectors before moving into academia. My PhD combined methodologies from natural the sciences and economics and, since then, my research has focused on the social sciences, integrating approaches from economics, geography and governance. I started my academic career at the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3), where I completed my PhD on the environmental and economic impacts of sea-level rise on the Basque coast (2016). From 2017 to 2019, I was a visiting researcher at the Grantham Research Institute for Climate Change and the Environment (LSE). My research focuses on the socio-economic impacts of climate change and I have contributed to several international research projects (e.g. ACCREU, COACCH, Econadapt) and was a contributing author to the IPCC AR6 WGII report (Africa chapter). Currently, I am a lecturer at the Department of Applied Economics at UPV/EHU and an Associate Researcher at BC3.
