Abstract

An important field of action of Social Education is the community and its well-being, being popular festivities a clear example of a community meeting. This study focuses on the festivals of Deusto as well as on the intergenerational relations, aiming to analyse the importance of the participation of the elderly in these festivals. To that end, 6 people have been interviewed based on qualitative research methodology. The results have confirmed the transformation capacity of popular festivities, highlighting these as a space for natural intergenerational relationships. Taking this into consideration, a need has been detected to promote not only intergenerational relationships but also the participation of the elderly in the festivities of Deusto.
