Abstract

The research questions the level of interaction conducted by the 17 Spanish autonomous parliaments in the Web 2.0 as a way to engage citizens in a constructive dialogue. We analyze the presence and the use of Open Parliament platforms and official profiles on Facebook and Twitter. To do that, we use the theoretical framework of dialogic communication developed by Kent and Taylor (1998). The results about the communication between parliaments and citizens show two key aspects: first, that much of the parliaments do not provide spaces for dialogue on the Internet, and secondly, that its use is predominantly unidirectional, but has different levels of commitment.
