Abstract

Background: There are several useful tools to measure and assess the quality of teaching in the EHEA, which measure relavant factors of the activities carried out in the university. However, the assessment of entrance in the labour work when the studies have finished is not always considered. Method: The UPV / EHU and the Basque Government prepare an annual complex survey for graduated students. This survey aims to find out the employability taking into account the knowledge areas, faculties and degrees, and registered self-employment. Nevertheless, active efforts are needed in order to improve the employability of graduates. Results and Conclusions: Different strategies are proposed: 1 ) cooperative education programs and practicum , which give rise to the first job in 22% of cases, 2) the management of four career centers, 3) specific programs such as job fairs‘ organization and labour research activities, 4) entrepreneurship programs. Our experience indicates the positive impact of these measures on employability and university-industry relationship. Therefore, we suggest the incorporation of the assessment of the entrance in the labor market within the system of evaluating university quality .
