As a PhD candidate, my research delves into the intricate processes shaping urban environments through the lens of urban metabolism. I explore the symbiotic relationships within urban infrastructures, uncovering the complex metabolic flows of matter and energy embedded in the capitalist mode of production. My work emphasizes the global scale of these metabolic exchanges, highlighting the pivotal role of seaports in connecting cities to planetary systems of production and exchange. I hold a Master’s degree in Development and International Economics from the Université catholique de Louvain and Université de Namur, where I graduated with 'Cum Laude'. In addition to my research, I serve as a lecturer at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), where I teach macroeconomics at the undergraduate level. My professional experience spans various roles, including economist positions at Eusko Legebiltzarra (Basque Parliament) and the Ministry of Social Development in Uruguay. I have also worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) gaining extensive experience in public policy, project management, and strategic planning.
