Periodismo y activismo comunitario por la igualdad de géneroiniciativas innovadoras de la redacción colaborativa de Chicas Poderosas

Abstract

In recent decades there has been an intensification of journalistic initiatives in favour of gender equality and the empowerment of women as protagonists of information and as media professionals. The importance of the feminist media agenda is unquestionable in the current context, where the development of the 2030 Agenda (UN) requires the development of narratives capable of promoting social communication that is genuinely inclusive, accessible and capable of raising awareness. In this context, the article offers a case study of the initiatives of the organisation Chicas Poderosas in Latin America. The aim of this analysis is to delve into alternative practices that represent an innovation in the field of activist journalism. Based on a qualitative methodological approach, the results allow us to argue the innovative nature of the initiative examined, taking into account various notions that are interrelated in the case examined. Among these, we conclude the importance of activist journalism, postcolonial feminism, multimedia communication, feminist storytelling, and the organisational and working structures based on the instructive idea of pop up newsroom (Wall, 2022), an open and collaborative newsroom where learning through projects and with the help of innovative proposals at different levels: technological, narrative, etc.
