Resumen
After the Paris Agreement and the incorporation of national commitments in adaptation, the measurement of progress in adaptation has become an important part of the international climate policy agenda. Monitoring the progress of adaptation provides relevant information for public and private institutions to strengthen strategies, effectively distribute and prioritise their investments, assess the achievement of established objectives and develop learning processes. In this article we review the progress of climate change adaptation planning in 54 provincial capital cities. We have identified 11 relatively recent climate adaptation plans. We have evaluated the progress in adaptation planning, identifying the strengths, areas for improvement and opportunities for each city. The results provide information relevant to support planning processes in these cities as well as serve as example to others. The results can also be used at upper policy scales to identify priority areas that require funding or capacity building.
