Resumen

El “miedo al delito” tiene consecuencias negativas a nivel individual y comunitario: incluso en sociedades razonablemente seguras, afecta, entre otros aspectos, a la movilidad y el libre uso del espacio público; y especialmente las mujeres restringen su libertad por razones de autoprotección. A pesar de la amplísima investigación existente, la literatura especializada ha encontrado dificultades para profundizar en estos miedos como experiencias dependientes del contexto, y comprender en qué lugares y situaciones se desencadenan. En los últimos años, nuevas herramientas del ámbito de las TICs permiten recoger información geolocalizada y con detalles sobre las características del lugar y situación. En este trabajo, establecemos la relevancia de profundizar en el miedo al delito experimentado por las mujeres, identificando y analizando los escenarios y situaciones en que se producen y por qué ocurren, y planteamos una línea de trabajo cuyo objetivo último será la prevención del miedo y contribuir a la construcción de espacios públicos en los que las mujeres puedan sentirse libres, seguras, y tomar decisiones no coartadas por el miedo al delito.
