Abstract
The case of Rekaldeberri is paradigmatic when visualizing a model of fragmented and exclusionary urban development characteristic of Francoist developmentalism. Making use of the resources of social movement analysis, we analyze the role played by the Association of Families of Rekalde between 1963 and 1979, in structuring a community identity that demanded its right to be recognized within Bilbao; we also analyze also the pride in Rekalde�s differentiated character, based on the identification of the district as a space of encounter, suffering and struggle.
