Abstract
The encouragement of a more dynamic entrepreneurship through a firm creation tax increase has become one of the national and local authorities priority concerns. Those authorities use the entrepreneurs support policies as a central instrument for the achievement of their employment and economic growth aims. The objective of this study is to appraise the impact of the public and semipublic programmes aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship in the Autonomous Region of the Basque Country and in Spain, in terms of its knowledge and use, as a previous step to a complete evaluation. For that purpose, using the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2004 data for the Basque Country and Spain, we will analyse on the one hand the knowledge and use of these policies on the Basque and Spanish population, and on the other hand, the degree of impact that they have on the entrepreneurship collective.
