Abstract
This work analyses the different ways of expressing the approximation in which όλίγος and μικρός participate in the corpus of the Greek novel. The genitive form of these adjectives expresses the defective approximation in three different constructions: as an adjunct of the predication (δεῑόλγον / μικροṽ+ infinitive) , and by the invariable forms, όλγον δεῑν / μικροṽ δεῑν and δλίγοṽ / μικρόṽ. The latter two can be analyzed as focus adverbs. Other forms of these adjectives (alone or in prepositional syntagmas) could also be interpreted as approximative, both excessive and defective
