Resumen

A substantial part of scientific literature assumes that entrepreneurship, in a wide sense, is positive for economic growth. With this assumption, scholars have focused on finding those factors that can boost entrepreneurship. However, some researchers call into question the positive relationship between entrepreneurship and economic growth. Our work, using a 6 years empirical analysis at the country level, has found some factors related to entrepreneurship as well as economic growth (simultaneously). The results allow us to know ex ante the impact of a specific factor on entrepreneurship and economic growth. Furthermore, our findings suggest that entrepreneurship plays a different role depending on the countrys stage of development. In particular, less wealthy countries, should not consider the promotion of entrepreneurship in the hope of stimulating economic growth.
