Doctor by the Universidad del País Vasco - Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea with the thesis Acuerdos internacionales medioambientales una aproximación económica al caso del efecto invernadero 1997. Supervised by Dr. María del Carmen Gallastegui Zulaica, Dr. María José Gutiérrez Huerta.

Marta Escapa (Ph.D. in Economics, 1996, UPV/EHU) is Associate Professor at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). She develops her research and teaching activity in the area of economic analysis applied to environmental problems and the management of natural resources. Her teaching experience covers both undergraduate and graduate courses on Natural Resource Economics and Environmental Economics. Her research interests include: economic analysis of climate change; fisheries resource management; environmental fiscal reform; optimal solid waste management and household energy efficiency. She has 4 six-year research periods recognized by CNEAI and has supervised 4 PhD Thesis. She has participated in several competitive projects at regional, national and European level. She has been member of different Organizing and Scientific Committees of International Conferences and has been involved in the organization of several editions of a Summer School jointly organized by the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) and UPV/EHU since 2010. She has also participated in the development of two Role-Play Games: “The International Climate Negotiation Game” and “ADAPTECC: A Role-Play Game about Adaptation to Climate Change”.
