Doctor by the Universidad del País Vasco - Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea with the thesis Un modelo para la estimación de la fuerza de corte en el fresado de superficies complejas 2003. Supervised by Dr. Luis Norberto López de Lacalle Marcaide.

Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU Professor of the High Performance Manufacturing Group at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao. I studied Mechanical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao. My PhD work was about a cutting force model for sculptured surface machining with ball-end mills, it was presented in 2003. Since 2004, I lead a Laser Material Processing research line, combining basic research and industrial projects. The topics are mainly focused on metal additive manufacturing and surface treatments, including laser polishing, texturing and laser PBF and DED. I am member of SME and AEIM (Spanish Society of Mechanical Engineers). Currently, have authored more than 150 international journal papers and many national and international conferences.
