Doctor by the Universidad del País Vasco - Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea with the thesis Análisis y desarrollo del proceso de reavivado por electroerosión de muelas de superabrasivo para desbaste 2005. Supervised by Dr. José Antonio Sánchez Galíndez.

Naiara Ortega Rodriguez reserachs in the field of precision manufacturing processes, mainly, grinding, no-conventional processes and dimensional metrology. Naiara Ortega is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of the Basque Country since 2011. She defended his doctoral thesis in 2005 on Electro-Dischage Dressing of superabrasive CBN grinding wheel. Since 2007, she is part of the High Performance Manufacturing Group, headed by Luis Norberto López de Lacalle. From then on, she has been working closely with automotive and aeronautic industries, specifically in the field of EDM, grinding and dimensional metrology. She is the main researcher of several R&D projects, from more industrial to more scientific character on precision manufacturing. As a result of her research work, she has 37 publications indexed in JCR and directed 3 thesis on grinding and 1 on Computerized Tomography applied to dimensional metrology. Currently, she is supervising 4 Phd theses, one on grinding and 3 on dimensional metrology in productive sistems. She is also member of several Scientific and Technological Committee from both, international congress and Aeronautical Advanced Manufacturing Research centre. She has an h-index of 19 (Web of Science). From 2022 is the Director of the Evaluation Service of the University of the Basque Country.
