ORTEGA RODRIGUEZ

Naiara Ortega Rodriguez conducts research in the field of traceable inspection and dimensional measurement, as well as in precision manufacturing processes, mainly grinding and EDM. Naiara Ortega is a Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea since 2025. She defended her doctoral thesis in 2005 on Electroerosion Diamond Dressing of cBN Superabrasive Wheels. Since 2007, she has been part of the Manufacturing in 4.0 Environments Group, led by Luis Norberto López de Lacalle. Since then, she has been working closely with the automotive and aerospace industries, specifically in the field of electroerosion, grinding, and dimensional metrology. She is the principal investigator of several R&D&I projects, both industrial and scientific, on precision in manufacturing processes. As a result of her research work, she has 40 publications indexed in JCR, has supervised 4 doctoral theses in the field of grinding, and 1 in the application of industrial Computed Tomography (XCT) for metrological purposes. Currently, she is supervising another 4 doctoral theses, one on grinding and three on dimensional metrology inspection with XCT in production environments. She is also a member of several Scientific and Technological Committees of both international conferences and the Center for Advanced Aeronautical Manufacturing Research (CFAA). She has an h-index of 22 (Web of Science). From 2022 until January 2025, she served as Director of the Evaluation Service at the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea.
