Abstract

This work provides advances in the manufacture and experimental study of new luminescent solar concentrators based on plastic optical fibers doped with Lumogen F Red 305. We have carried out an experimental and theoretical characterization of some of the manufactured fibers, and designed and characterized under solar illumination a prototype of luminescent solar concentrator consisting of 16 fibers of 1 mm in diameter and 10 cm in length. Specifically, the system would provide an optical power output of up to 9 mW.
