Resumen

This article presents a biosensing transducer based on optical fiber for the detection of biomolecules in real-time. The proposed biosensor is composed of a single mode optical fiber with a Fabry-Perot cavity (FPC) on its tip, functionalized with molecules that enable the immobilization of the biomolecules of interest. By monitoring the changes in the reflection on the FPC caused by the binding of the target biomolecules, the biosensor can detect the presence and concentration of the analyte with high sensitivity and specificity. The biosensor was tested for the detection of lysozyme and spike protein receptor binding domain (spike-RBD) present in the Sars-cov-2, and the results showed a limit of detection of 1.8 ng/ml and 2 ng/ml respectively. Moreover, the biosensor exhibited good stability and reproducibility, making it a promising candidate for a wide range of applications in biomedical research and clinical diagnosis.
