Abstract

This paper resumes a particular approach to the political ideas of Augustin Xaho. In my view, and along his trip to Navarre in the 19th century, the political and legal concepts of Basque Historical titles are fully in force. His clear viewpoint in order to foster Basque freedoms is a signal of political identity either for the North Basque side or for the South one. Nowadays that is directly assumed by the Statute of Gernika, the Statute of Navarre and the Spanish Constitution. Therefore, we could be talking about the “Constitution” of the Basque Country.
