Abstract
Different concepts of culture and social structure are critically examined, aiming to aprehend their contributions towards the clarification ofthe object of Social Anthropology. The views of: evolutionists, neoevolutionists, structuralists, cognitives and symbolics are presented. Theoretical as well as methodological issues are stressed.
