Abstract

The process by which the ikastolas (schools in Basque) go into the public system of education or they become "Partaide", a group of the private education net, has been the subject of my interest as a researcher of social phenomena. Furthermore, it is the political dimension of this process which 1 focus my attention on and will be the basis for this article. What 1 present is divided in three parts. The first one shows the different theoretical concepts and hypothesis and the methodology followed to study this political dimension. The second one presents the political context of this process taken in account the political dimension of the actions of the different parties and social actors. The last one analyses the different conceptions of "school" and its relationship with the models of society which the different groups that play the lead in the process proclaim.
