This article analyse the relationship between resources Mexican silver, funding for tobacco and implementation of your product as well as the processes of independence in the colonies. Silver was critical to the survival of the Spanish Treasure, especially during the last years of the 18th and early 19th. The numerous wars increased this need. But the Mexican aid became increasingly narrower, and cause dislike among the inhabitants, giving rise to the independence process. As regards the Cuban tobacco, metropolitan market changes made that it would have to find other markets, legal or not. Its way of financing with Mexican silver was affectted by his absence during the early years of the 19th. These events led to a change in the monopoly model of exploitation, making the sector liberate from the strong metropolitan control in 1817.
