Abstract

Generative artificial intelligence has broken into the course of the digital transformation of the media as a technological tool of a dual nature, offering new possibilities to combat disinformation, but also to generate it. This research analyzes the opinion of 118 information professionals on the impact of AI, particularly with regard to misinformation, based on 778 messages published on Twitter. The results indicate that Spanish journalists express a mostly cautious opinion that flees from technocentric positions and in which concern about the way in which AI can affect citizens prevails. The main perceived dangers are the increase in information disorders and misinformation, bias in the results obtained, the inaccuracy of the content, the ease of committing fraud or developing deepfakes, or their potential use for malicious purposes.
