Resumen

Resumen: El carácter vanguardista e innovador del movimiento de okupación llevó a que algunos activistas concibieran los espacios okupados como frentes en los que es posible desarrollar también una crítica y una propuesta cultural, que muchas veces toma la forma de la experimentación artística. Estas prácticas, además de ser transgresoras, suelen resultar atractivas para los promotores (públicos y privados) de unas ciudades que cada vez más disputan un espacio global, cuyo nicho se gana frecuentemente mediante políticas culturales. El artículo busca dilucidar la problemática relación entre las actividades contraculturales que desarrollan los centros okupados con procesos de regeneración urbana y gentrificación. Para ello se realizará una revisión teórica, así como un repaso de casos empíricos. En este contexto, numerosos casos ilustran que espacios okupados han sido cooptados para dinámicas gentrificadoras. El resultado, no obstante, indica que la relación entre las actividades de los espacios okupados y la gentrificación es ambivalente y varía según cada situación.
