Abstract

HBIM (Heritage Building Information Modelling) is a planning, designing, building, and operating buildings process in which digital tools are used to create a detailed three-dimensional model of the building. In the Master Plan for Alcala de Xivert castle (promoted by Diputación de Castellón and carried out by ibim-Balaguer), the HBIM has allowed to create a precise model of the castle. This model includes details such as precise geometry, materials, pathologies, construction techniques, structure or history. This model has improved the understanding of the castle and its historical context, which is essential for its conservation and future restoration. The HBIM has also allowed professional collaboration between architects, archaeologists, historians and contract managers from the administration thanks to the open access available for all of them to the model and its information. All of this has contributed to enhanced better decision-making and a greater efficiency in the development process of the Master Plan in order to meet the contract objectives. This HBIM Model is intended to be used for the integral management of upcoming actions on the heritage site. In conclusion, the use of HBIM methodology in a castle Master Plan leads to a more efficient planning, a better collaboration between the professionals involved, a better project management and to obtain detailed documentation of the castle.
