Resumen

Introduction: The pilonidal sinus disease is a chronic suppurative condition related to the growth of the hair follicle, typically located in the sacral area. Although it is usually a local condition simple to manage, it can become infected and this situation can lead us to indicate an aggressive surgical debridement. Methods: The authors show their experience in the management of the defect created after resection of the pilonidal sinus, through the use of flaps of the gluteal area. Results: The postoperative period ran uneventfully in the three cases shown presented. Closure of the defect was achieved with minimal pain during all the procedure, no bleeding or infection, and no disease recurrence. Conclusions: The gluteal flaps are a reliable technique that provide many advantages as excellent coverage with lower risk of dehiscence, minimal morbidity, few needs for postop-erative care, low risk of recurrence, fast recovery and aesthetically acceptable outcomes.
