A descriptive and analytical retrospective study of 56 temporal artery biopsies has been made to describe the relations between signs and clinical symptoms and anatomo-pathological results of the temporal artery (AT). The sample has been grouped by the anatomopathological diagnosis in temporal arteritis (AAT) (n = 17) and non temporal arteritis (nAT) (n = 39). Results show that in the AAT, the most frequently clinical variables found have been: General syndrome (70.6%), headache (47.1%), polymialgia rheumatica (PMP) (41.2%), unknown fever (FOD) (35.3%) and the local signs of the temporal arteritis (23.5%). The mandibular backing down has been the only variable with statistical meaning (p < 0.05).
