Resumen

A study of the state of the existing brotherhoods and fraternities in Gipuzkoa in 1772 took place as a consequence of the research ordered by Charles III throughout Spain, and in our case to the chief magistrate Miguel de Barreda y Yebra, to regulate the many trade or religious associations that were set up without the proper licences and that impoverished their brothers and members. They accompany the constitutions of the gunsmiths’ guild, the invocation of Santa Bárbara prior to the reform, and those of the brotherhood of Nuestra Señora de Izaskun, subsequent to the same.
