Abstract
The symmetrical turn has given rise new theoretical bases for archaeology. From the perspective of an ontology centered on objects, analytical applications can be reconfigured as reference for a plural and innovative epistemology, specially for approaches to technology. For this reason, archaeometry offers dialogue with an autonomous materiality, which is able to integrate the tensions between different theoretical positions while approaching the reality of objects. This ability to give answers from the material evidence itself participates in the revision and construction of the discourse on the past. To demonstrate this, the particular case of hydraulic ironworks and its technology.
