Abstract

A brief survey on political violence in the Late Roman Republic, posing the difficulties of the topic, the ongoing historiographical debates and the various possibilities of analysis and approachs that the subject offers. Special reference is made to the problem of ancient sources, for example Cicero's partisanship, and possible parallels with later times are pointed out.
