In this paper, we analyze the way in which mainstreams theories on biological functions, i.e. the evolutive-etiological and the classical systemic-dispositional approaches, address the notions of natural normativity and biological malfunction. Then, we show why these approaches do not account for the specific normative dimension of malfunctions. Finally, we expose a new organizational approach of biological normativity that can be developed in order to ground adequately the concept of malfunction and supposes a promising way for the naturalization of biological norms.
