Abstract

.World War I was a milestone in the history of Europe and the Basque Country. In Navarre, some of the most remarkable effects were the division of public opinion about WWI, as well as the influence that the war had on Basque nationalists’ claims. WWI also conditioned the relationship between Basque nationalism and the so-called political navarrism. All this process was depicted by the influential local newspaper Diario de Navarra, directed by Raimundo Garcilaso Garcia, who conditioned the history of Navarre for decades.
