Abstract

In this writing I approach the asylum procedure from the wait experienced by applicants for international protection. To do this, using a qualitative methodology and a fieldwork supported by in-depth interviews, I establish a metaphorical relationship between the experience of "waiting" for the resolution of their status in destiny, with the circumstances contained in the story of El coronel no tiene quien le escriba from Gabriel García Márquez. This writing aims to show the development of life in a present frame projected into a future that would recognize him within a category that enables new possibilities of life. In this sense, this paper aims to analyze the experience of the applicant for protection, approaching it to a classic figure of literature that embodies the unrest of waiting and the shaping of a world of life around it.
