Abstract

The use of water as waste receiver carries a decrease of the readiness of the resource in terms of quality that threatens other possible uses of waters at sites more distant from the focus of contamination. In these terms, the discharging of dyes into waste water is a major pollution. For this reason, the treatment of waters polluted by dyes represents a double challenge: on the one hand the destruction of the dye considered as toxic and carcinogen pollutant; and on the other hand the elimination of the coloration due to the presence of dye the impeding the normal development of life on water. The main approach of this work focuses on the indispensable protection of the natural functions of the water and its balance related to the activities developed on it. This research is based on the study of the viability of the Advanced Oxidation Process based on the combination of the ultraviolet light (UV) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as oxidant, to achieve the decolourization of the polluted water. From a practical point of view of the decolourization process, the effect of the dose of oxidant on the kinetics of decolourization is studied to find the optimum level of the application.
