Abstract

The current regulatory framework of the Spanish educational system emphasizesthe importance of a methodological transformation to adapt to a globalized and constantlychanging society. This is a need that must be addressed at different educational levels andfrom different areas, proposing teaching and learning methodologies that prioritize thestudent's activity and are oriented to the development of transversal competences. In thisregard, university teachers of degrees leading to the Degree of Teacher has an importantresponsibility, since they are in charge of training future teachers, so they should always beone step ahead with respect to new educational practices to transmit them to their students, who, in turn, will be able to apply them later in their respective classrooms. Based on theseideas, an experience of application of active methodologies in the subject of InstrumentalTraining is presented, with the general objective of establishing its relevance to promotemusic education. This is a qualitative research in which various techniques and instrumentshave been used, such as the teacher's diary, mixed questionnaires, a discussion group andthe analysis of different documents. The results obtained allow us to conclude that the musicclassroom is an ideal context for applying active methodologies, since the different phasesof a teaching-learning process in the artistic field are identified, to a large extent, with thestages through which any creative process passes: research, planning, execution and displayof the product produced
