Resumen

In this article the development of future morphology in Spanish and Basque by monolingual and bilingual children is analysed. They were all observed longitudinally from age 1:06 to age 4:00, approximately. The authors intend to confirm the hypothesis of the differentiated development in bilingual children exposed to a balanced input of two languages from birth, and the phenomenon of transfer during the process of bilingual language acquisition. The development and use of the different future forms in Spanish and Basque produced by monolingual and bilingual children is compared. The authors come to the conclusion that the bilingual child develops both codes separately, as no significant qualitative differences are observed between the monolingual and bilingual processes studied
