Abstract

The aim of this text is to present a research proposal to evaluate the presence and participationof women in archaeology from a feminist and gender perspective, usingthe Basque Country as a case study. This is part of a broader project focusing on (re)reading the presence of women in the discipline and in the historical discourse thatmuseums generate out of archaeological data. This inquiry proposes an examination and assessment of the prevailing criteriaand forms of action in terms of gender in archaeological practice through differentinstruments: analysis of the permits granted for the direction of excavations; aquestionnaire applied to active archaeologists; and a bibliographic emptying from agender perspective. A series of lines of action for the future will be proposed.
