Abstract

The Building Information Modeling Methodology, BIM, is acquiring increasing relevance in architecture, which is why various institutions are trying to promote the use of BIM in a structured and coordinated way in the teaching field. In the School of Architecture of the University of the Basque Country, a revision of the study plan of the Degree is being prepared, which has among its objectives the implementation of BIM in a global way in the various courses, involving all areas of knowledge. In this plan, the Architectural Graphic Expression Area has a driving role from the first year, being responsible for key BIM competencies. This paper presents the teaching experience that is being developed to be able to materialize the new BIM competencies assigned to the first-year Architectural Drawing subject. All this without neglecting the competences that the subject is currently developing. The proposed tasks are being evaluated by means of surveys, and it can be seen that the modeling tool allows the enhancement of new skills in students, without neglecting traditional preparatory skills.
