Abstract
Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome is an inflammation of the liver capsule associated with pelvic inflammatory disease. The primary etiology of this syndrome is Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. The symptoms are unspecific and include right upper quadrant abdominal pain, fever and, sometimes, signs of salpingitis. The diagnosis is difficult and, occasionally, it can be the reason of diagnostic mistake and of surgical unnecessary intervention. The treatment is similar to pelvic inflammatory disease, and the antibiotic therapy is directed the most likely pathogens, in particular C. trachomatis and N. gonorrhoeae.
