Resumen

The emergence of technology has brought to the pedagogical field the access to a wide range of toolsthat have allowed the paradigm shift in education. From a conservative scenario where the teacher wasunilaterally the transmitter of knowledge it has evolved into other ecosystems where synergistic co-creation of knowledge is possible in a multi-directional way, in different circumstances and with differentformats. The purpose of this paper is an analysis of the virtual docent role from a holistic view of theprocess that is designed and implemented when there is an opportunity of creating a teaching-learningprocess, structured in a digital platform or in a blended learning environment. Which functions shouldhe undertake? What are the areas that should attend? What is the profile of this professional? Along thispaper it will try to provide answers to these and other central issues within the e-learning.
