Resumen

Heritage is currently seen through a two-dimensional perspective, as memory from the past and as a resourcefor the present and the future. Thus, its management requires an integral approach that is not possible to achievefrom a single disciplinary view. The team working on the remains of Sancti Spiritus take on this challenge, developing an interdisciplinary project, involved with the different links included at the Cultural Heritage ValueChain, for this first European settlement in La Plata Basin. Years ago an ambitious plan was set up; it startedwith the identification and study of the fort, but has also attended to the maintenance and conservation of thesite, and especially to its dissemination, socialization and optimization. After different research stages, it is time to open a new stage with aims to pass from the diagnosis of the site toits intervention. We think that now it is the appropriate moment to make a proposal aiming to regulate and coordinate the necessary actions to convert the site into a resource for the development of Puerto Gaboto and itssurrounding region, an objective that requires the development of a planned strategy that must reach a socialconsensus.
