Resumen

Samples of the Universal Osseointegrated Implant (UOI) and Ti cylinders coated with Hydroxyapatite by a new water solution precipitation method (SD), have been characterized by means of XRD, Diffuse Surface Scattering IR Spectroscopy, SEM, ESCA and Auger Spectroscopy, in order to assess the results of the coating method from the point of view of their use in restorative dentistry. The deposited layers are composed of crystallites with sizes lower than 0,5 microns, the thickness of the layer does not exceed 5 microns, presenting preferential orientation of the crystallites after [0001]. The layer fulfill the requirements of structure and composition for the Ca-phosphates used in metallic prostheses coating and, certainly, their specificities (crystallinity, morphology, porosity, etc.) fit the requirements to obtain a successful resorption.
