Abstract

The French cartoonist Claire Bretécher always refused to be ideologically identified to the “gauchistes”, which she didn’t appreciate much. Nevertheless she was often associated with “Mai 68”, even though she did not take part in the Paris demonstrations. But in 1973, in her studio of the Butte Montmartre, she created some committed drawings: Les Amours écologiques du bolot occidental that would appear in May in the ecological journal Le Sauvage. In this article we will study this work by Claire Bretécher and its connection with feminism and ecology, where femaleness becomes a key to transform our world. The artist offers an example for the readers of the present and the future.
