Abstract

In this paper, we present the results of the palaeontological analysis of Muniziaga (Galdames, Bizkaia) cave. This sample is almost completely formed by Ursus spelaeus remains. The location of an accumulation with these features in the Iron-mining area ofBizkaia, is unusual. One mine employed the cave as access to the iron veins, degrading the archaeological and paleontological heritage. This study consists of two parts, taxonomic analysis in which we analyze in detail the configuration of the population of Ursus spelaeus. In the second part, we analyzed the postdepositional processes and we propose a number of causes that through the action of physical and biological agents could modified this sample.
