Resumen

Sport is an agent actively involved in the production, reproduction and maintenance of social inequalities, but it also acts as an agent for resistance and change. At present, actions aimed at tackling inequality in sport can be detected, but these actions do not constitute an integral action, they respond mainly to demands of groups or individuals in relation to sports services and the agents involved in its implementation do not count with full awareness of the objective, scope or results of its action. It is necessary an intervention at the level of policies, which allows a structured approach of the solutions to be implemented, which allow guarantees and transparency in rights and obligations in relation to access to physical activity under equitable conditions. In response to the Strategic Plan of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, different policies have been implemented in Gipuzkoa aimed at incorporating this perspective of equity in the promotion of physical activity and sport. The actions carried aout include a framework study on equity policies in sport, a field study on the policies currently delivered by the municipalities, the measurement of physical activity in the poverty and social exclusion survey of Gipuzkoa, the introduction of specific criteria about equity in the grants for sports clubs, the development of a network of attention to the inactive people connected with the social services of the community and the promotion of specific programs in the territory
