Laburpena

Este artículo se centra en la representación de los muertos silenciados en Herztier y Atemschaukel de Herta Müller. El punto de partida es la hipótesis de que la figura de los muertos sirve a Müller para reivindicar la importancia, según las suposiciones de Thomas W. Laqueur, de "la obra de los muertos", para la memoria colectiva de la comunidad germano-rumana del Banato y de toda Rumanía. En ambas novelas se analizan tres elementos clave de la representación de la memoria de los muertos en la Rumanía dictatorial y postdictatorial: la forma precisa de morir, la corporeidad de los muertos y su relación con los objetos y, finalmente, la presencia fantasmal de los muertos entre los vivos, ya sea a través de objetos o en forma de sueño. La presencia de los muertos entre los vivos en el universo de Müller no es reconfortante, sino difícil, fantasmal e inquietante.
