Resumen
In this work a taxonomical assessment, including number of remains and minimum number of individuals is presented for the Upper and Early Middle Paleolithic layers from Arlanpe. In the Upper Paleolithic layers the herbivore remains are more abundant than the carnivore remains, while this percentage fluctuates in the Early Middle Paleolithic layers, in which carnivore taxonomic diversity increases. The most common species are the mountain goat and the chamois while among carnivores, bears are the most common taxa. The taphonomic analysis of level D is consistent with the human and carnivore occupation of the cave during the formation of the level. Anthropogenic modifications include bones exposed to fire, fractured and with cut-marks being all these more frequent than bones with carnivore bites.
