Abstract
The standardisation of the Basque language presents different strands and fields, all necessary to continue with this recovery process. In the light of this situation, what do young emigrants currently think about Spanish-speaking cities such as Vitoria of then regarding the Basque language and Basque culture? And as an elaboration of this point, what is the situation at the IES Francisco de Vitoria High School that has become a ghetto? In order to answer these questions, a qualitative study was carried out among Year 11 students (aged 15-16), obtaining different conclusions from the debate developing this issue. The work also proposes some criteria to reverse the situation.
