Abstract
This article aims to explain the impact of the appearance and development of a new political tradition such as the Republicans, characterised above all by their modern organisation, their secular practice and their democratic discourse. Gipuzkoa turns out to be a perfect example to study Republicanism in regions where apparently there were not the most appropriate conditions for its existence.
