Large bowel cancer represents a high global health spending. It is estimated that it costs between 9 and 15 billion euros annually. With several tests (FOBT, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy) it can be diagnosed at earlier stages, reducing mortality from this disease and lowering costs. In the Basque Country there are about 1,700 new cases diagnosed each year. It is being implementing a screening program to reduce mortality, with fecal occult blood.. This study examines the benefit that would provide health labour physicians if they were involved in the circuit program. Expected participation of 50% would reduce mortality by 15%. 483,000 persons will be cited, of which 241,500 would participate. With a recitation by their company doctors to 222,000 of the 483,000 test candidates, it is estimated that the share could rise to 75%.We analyze the benefit and cost of this development. Large numbers point to a social and economic benefit in the long run, and they would be higher if you add the support of Company Doctors.
